Kat Swansey at SKG
I am a documentary and landscape photographer devoted to capturing the essence of rural and abandoned Texas through film photography. Born and raised in rural Texas, my roots deeply influence my artistic vision, driving me to explore the state’s forgotten landscapes and untold stories. Now based in Austin, my work reflects a connection to Texas’ backroads, where each frame tells a story of resilience, history, and unapologetic beauty.
Using a wide variety of color film—from grocery store emulsions to professional-grade stocks—I create vibrant images that showcase the rugged charm of Texas’ vast blue skies and weathered structures. My series, Texas Textures, blends photographs and short stories, documenting my travels across the Lone Star State. With the recent release of the series' second book, I continue my journey into Texas’s hidden landscapes and forgotten histories, celebrating the enduring spirit of the place I call home.
Now available at SKG, my fine art film photography invites you to bring a piece of Texas’ past and present into your space—where each print holds a story waiting to be told.
